Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal Phase II

Bainbridge Island, Wash.

This project involved building five new steel and concrete dolphins, removing five creosote dolphins, and removing two creosote wingwalls.

Kingston Ferry Terminal Phase II

Kingston, Wash.

This project involved construction of five new steel dolphins and removal of one existing timber dolphin.

Lopez Island Ferry Terminal

Lopez Island, Wash.

This project provided for the preservation of the Lopez Ferry Terminal in San Juan County, Washington through demolition of two existing floating dolphins and installation of a new inner fixed dolphin and a new outer floating dolphin.

Day Island Marina

University Place, Wash.

General Construction Company was selected to maintenance dredge the Day Island Yacht Harbor Marina. Dredging included about 6000 cy of material from the marina. We also installed new galvanized steel pipe guide piles for the new dock sections as well as new ACZA treated wood pilings as reinforcement for a nearby bulkhead.

Shilshole Marina

Seattle, Wash.

This project required demolition of the existing Pier G float system, which consisted of 550 ft of main walk and thirty, finger piers, each 60 ft long. New construction included installation of 600 ft of 8 ft wide main walk, sixty-four 60 ft berths, a new 60 ft aluminum gangway, and cart storage area. Piledriving consisted of driving forty-four, 16 in. diameter, pipe piles. New electrical and mechanical service was also provided.

Keyport Pier Replacement

Keyport, Wash.

A new T-pier with 200 lin ft of fixed berthing and a 120 ft floating finger pier were built to support transient Navy vessels and small crafts. The facility also includes a floating boathouse, to provide covered moorage for the Admiral's barge, and three smaller slips. Mechanical and electrical utilities were provided for all new structures along with relocation and installation of existing jib cranes and other vessel service equipment. Demolition of two existing timber piers and the existing fixed boathouse were included as part of the project scope.

Neah Bay Coast Guard Pier

Neah Bay, Wash.

General Construction Company partnered with BERGER/ABAM for this Design/Build project. The contract required demolition of an existing 650 ft timber pier and construction of a new replacement concrete pier and concrete mooring floats. The construction included 16 in. diameter concrete piles, poured in place caps, precast deck panels, and crane beams. In addition to the new pier, a custom 25-ton capacity 'Marine Travelift' boat hoist was installed.

Benicia Segmental Bridge

Oakland, Calif.

The new Benicia-Martinez Bridge is a four frame, 2,266 meter long by 25 meter wide cast-in-place, post tensioned, segmental concrete bridge spanning the Carquinez Strait. The superstructure is supported by seventeen pile-supported foundations, twelve of which are located in water. The bridge carries five lanes of northbound Interstate 680 traffic and has the potential for a future BART light rail lane.

Oakland Bay Bridge E2/T1 Foundation

San Francisco, Calif.

The E2 foundation, on the east end of the project, consists of a composite steel and concrete footing founded on 16 cast-in-steel shell piles driven 300 ft into the San Francisco Bay mud. The T1 foundation at the west end of the project is the foundation for the main suspension tower of the self anchored suspension bridge. It consists of 13 cast-in-place drilled hole piles which extend approximately 200 ft into the Alameda rock formation.

Compressed Air Upgrades

Renton, Wash.

This project included installing a new 3,000 CFM air compressor with two new mist eliminator prefilters, installing a new refrigerated air dryer, and connecting the compressed air piping, cooling water piping, and circulating pumps. Also included were new electrical switchgear installation and power and control wiring.
